Room by Room Manual J&S

Room by Room calculations are used when you’re adding mini splits, as in this case, we need to know the individual room load and CFM. They can also be used when you plan to add duct design in the future, but you haven’t reached this stage yet. While a Room by Room design can be transitioned to a Manual D (Duct design), a Blockload Manual JS can’t as it’s missing the individual room load.

What information is needed for Manual JS?

In order to create a Manual JS report, I’ll need floor plans of the house that include the measurements of all exterior walls, the size (WxH), and the location of all windows and exterior doors. (*For Room-by-room, I'll need the measurements of all interior walls too).

If you don’t have official floor plans, you can always create a hand drawing (as shown on this drawing), but I urge you to double-check all measurements as people often miscalculate the measurements. In this case, Graph paper will be your best friend.

I’ll also need to know the Insulation values of the ceiling, walls, and floors, ceiling height, the type of windows, and the preferred brand of equipment.

If you don’t know this information or don’t have a preference, I’ll make an educated guess or give you a recommendation.

What’s included in the Manual JS package?

A Residential Blockload or Room by Room Manual J (Load calculations) and Manual S (Equipment selection) design. The manuals are performed using the ACCA-approved software “Wrightsoft” and follow ACCA Manual JS standards.

What information is needed to start?

A drawing of the house with the size of ALL walls (just exterior if we’re doing a Blockload), and dimensions (WxH) of all windows, and exterior doors, as well as a filled Price Quote form. The form will contain questions such as equipment preference, construction details, and so on.

What's the delivery time?

The delivery time is most often between 3-4 days, depending on the size of the project. Once I review your file, I'll send you a price quote, which will include the delivery time, and it's guaranteed that I'll deliver on time or early.
*The delivery time starts from the time the invoice is paid.

Can this be used to get a permit?

Yes, it can. Most jurisdictions require these calculations to obtain a Permit to start construction.

What software do you use?

I use the ACCA-certified “Wrightsoft” program, which I find to be the most accurate and detailed on the market.

Can a Blockload be upgraded to Manual D (Duct design)?

No, a Blockload can’t be upgraded to a Manual D (duct design), as Manual D needs the individual room load requirements. If you plan to add a duct design in the near future, please place an order for a Room by Room Manual JS.
