Rescheck energy efficiency calculations have emerged as a crucial tool for assessing and ensuring compliance with established energy codes. These calculations systematically determine a building’s thermal performance by evaluating insulation values, window efficiencies, and overall energy consumption. By effectively balancing energy expenditure with sustainability, Rescheck calculations facilitate architects and builders in making informed decisions that enhance energy conservation practices. Understanding the significance and application of these calculations is vital, as they play a crucial role in guiding construction practices toward more energy-efficient outcomes.

☆Using REScheck
☆List of states that accept Rescheck

*The majority of the United States uses Rescheck to show compliance. However, some states allow REScheck use by county or jurisdiction rather than statewide, so please confirm with your Local Municipality what their requirements are.
*As the only way to create a Rescheck is to use the Government website, the delivery time may be extended in case their website is down and they haven’t issued a warning, which is out of my control.

Questions & Answers

Be informed what’s included in the package and the project’s requirements

What’s included in the Rescheck package?

Energy efficiency code compliance certificate. This certificate determines whether newly built homes, additions, and alterations meet the requirements of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) or the National Energy Code.

What’s the difference between Rescheck and Manual J?

Rescheck measures the suitability of your building’s insulation envelope against your local climate zone and gives you a pass or fail score. Manual J measures the building envelope versus the climate zone and gives you sensible heat gain, latent heat gain, and total heat loss.

What information is needed to start?

A drawing of the house with the size of all exterior walls, dimensions (WxH) of all windows and exterior doors, insulation values, address, and a filled price quote form.

Will my building department accept the REScheck forms you send?

The majority of the United States uses Rescheck to show compliance. However, some states allow REScheck use by county or jurisdiction rather than statewide, so please confirm with your Local Municipality what their requirements are. For a list of states that accept Rescheck, click Here.

What software do you use?

I use the ACCA-certifiedWrightsoft” program in combination with the official Rescheck program provided by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Can this be used to get a permit?

Yes, it can. Most jurisdictions require these calculations to obtain a permit to start construction.

Are you familiar with the most up-to-date mechanical codes?

Yes, I am a Master HVAC Contractor License holder for the state of New Jersey and must have code update classes to maintain my license. I have completed well over 5000 load calculations for various states.

Rescheck Information

Learn what Rescheck is and what it’s used for.

Overview of Rescheck

One of the key components in facilitating energy efficiency in building design is the Rescheck energy efficiency calculation, which evaluates compliance with various energy codes. By employing a computer-based tool, architects and builders can assess the thermal performance of a building’s envelope, ensuring that elements such as walls, roofs, and windows meet specific criteria. This process helps streamline the construction phases and promotes sustainability, as it encourages the use of efficient materials and designs that minimize energy consumption. The calculations focus on areas such as insulation R-values and overall energy performance, providing an organized framework for compliance verification. In practical terms, the Rescheck calculations serve several purposes, including enhancing energy savings and reducing operational costs for homeowners. By ensuring that buildings adhere to energy efficiency standards, the tool also contributes to broader environmental goals, such as lowering greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the use of renewable energy sources. Furthermore, these calculations can be pivotal in achieving qualifying ratings for various initiatives, including LEED certification, thereby potentially increasing property values and marketability. Ultimately, understanding and applying Rescheck energy efficiency calculations is crucial for builders and architects alike, as it balances regulatory compliance with innovative design. Properly executed, these calculations yield tangible benefits to individual projects, the community, and the environment. As energy efficiency continues to gain prominence in public policy and consumer awareness, the role of Rescheck in shaping sustainable building practices will become increasingly vital, reflecting a growing commitment to energy conservation and environmental stewardship in the construction industry.
